Jay's Journey

At my brother Jay's request his ashes were spread in Lake City, Colorado.  The Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, into which his ashes were scattered, is pictured above.  The stream flows north from Lake City until it meets the Gunnison River at the Blue Mesa Reservoir just west of Gunnison.

The Gunnison River flows westward, passing through the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, until it meets the Colorado River at Grand Junction, Colorado.  Here is a map of the Gunnison River:

From Grand Junction, the Colorado River flows southwest past Moab, Utah until it forms Lake Powell in southern Utah.  From there it continues southwest until it forms Lake Mead near Las Vegas, Nevada.  From Lake Mead the Colorado flows south, eventually forming Lake Havasu, Arizona.  (Lake Havasu City, Arizona is where the famous London Bridge was relocated as a tourist attraction.  But that bridge does not span the Colorado River).  The flow of the Colorado continues south, passing Yuma, Arizona until it eventually empties into the Gulf of California.  Here is a map of the Colorado River:

A fitting route for Jay's final journey.
